   Derby Voters Turn Down Ballfields, New High School

DERBY--Voters in Derby resoundingly defeated the referendum held on June 10 by a 2 to one margin.  The referendum drew 41 percent of the city’s voters.

The first question for the construction of a new high school was turned down by a vote of 1,519 against and 953 in favor.

The second question for renovating the high school into a middle school was defeated 1,449 to 876

while the third question dealing with putting playing fields in Witek Memorial Park was defeated with a 1,607 to 752 vote.
